MEET JUSTIN
Justin grew up in southern Maryland, where he was introduced to firearms at a young age by his father, who was and still is an avid hunter. This early exposure instilled in him a deep respect for firearms and the importance of safety, leading him to complete his hunter's safety course at just seven years old.

As he grew older, Justin enjoyed occasional recreational shooting with friends, but it wasn't until his older brother started a catering business for shooting competitions that his passion for the firearms industry was truly reignited. Working alongside his brother at these events, Justin became fascinated with competitive shooting, leading him to purchase his first AR in 2021.
​
The landmark Bruen decision further sparked his interest in everyday carry, prompting him to earn his concealed carry permit in 2022. This marked the beginning of his commitment to carrying a handgun daily and honing his skills through regular training and competition.
Recognizing a significant need for reputable firearms training in Maryland, Justin decided to elevate his own training and share his expertise with others. Along with his business partners, he founded Essential Defense Concepts with the mission of providing consistent, high-quality firearms training to the community.

As a lead instructor and co-owner of Essential Defense Concepts, Justin is dedicated to helping others develop their skills and knowledge in firearms safety and handling. His personal journey from a young hunter to a competitive shooter and instructor fuels his passion for teaching and passing on his knowledge to those eager to learn.
